Yes! As of November 2023, GameMaker announced a major change: it’s now free to use, replacing the old subscription model. The free version lets you create and share games, as long as you’re not selling them. If you want to earn money from your games, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid license.
What Licenses does GameMaker provide?
GameMaker currently offers three options:
1. Free
A non-commercial license that lets you make and share games without cost. Perfect for beginners, hobbyists, or anyone curious about GameMaker.

2. Professional

3. Enterprise
A full commercial license plus console exports. To publish on consoles, you’ll also need to be a registered developer for that platform. Best suited for studios, teams, or anyone aiming for console releases.
- Cost: $79.99/month or $799/year
- Exports: GX.games, Desktop, Web, Mobile, Console (PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2)
- Extras: Source code access (approval required)
